Matthew’s Story

Matthew, 35 from Hulme was unemployed for over 3 years. He signed up at The Works and was accepted onto The University of Manchester’s Domestic Academy.  On completion he was offered a 13 week paid placement as a Domestic Assistant.  Whilst in this role Matthew applied for a full time position within the University’s catering operation.  Following a successful interview Matthew was offered the role and is now employed as a Catering Assistant for The University of Manchester.  Matthew is now looking forward to a long and successful career with one of the largest catering employers in Greater Manchester!

“The staff at The Works were very friendly, welcoming, and professional. The staff didn’t just discuss what I had come in for but instead took the time to find out about me, what I had done and what I wanted. They then found me a job which was completely different to what I went in for but in an area I am interested in and that I am really, really, happy with. I was amazed by how easy they made it at The Works and hope that this job will lead to better things.”
