The University of Manchester Construction Academy

Victor, 27 from Fallowfield came to The Works to seek employment opportunities due to relocating to Manchester from Spain.  Victor was a qualified Architectural Technician and had worked throughout Europe on a variety of builds.  Victor registered for the University of Manchester Construction academy and with the help of The University was able to get his qualification transferred to the UK equivalent and obtain his CSCS card.  Victor secured permanent employment at a Design Consultancy based in Trafford.

“I’m pleased to have been on the very first Construction Academy. It’s an amazing way to get a proper job.

The practical and theory sessions have helped to improve my knowledge in the construction industry.

And with a job being offered at the end of the Academy, it’s definitely going to help me get back into the field I want to be in, which is construction.

Since the Academy, and with lots of help from the University, I am now in full time, permanent employment as a trainee surveyor. It’s only 10 weeks ago I was unemployed and didn’t know what to do.”
