University of Manchester Construction Academy

The University of Manchester Construction Academy is an integral part of the University’s £1 billion Master Plan to expand and improve its Campus which is one of the largest in Europe. It is expected that over 1,000 new jobs will be created during the course of the delivery of the plan.

The University is committed to ensuring that as far as possible, local people have access to training opportunities and  jobs and which will be created by the development, which will be delivered in partnership with some of the UK’s largest construction companies.

The Academy will provide you with full training and qualifications.  Including a CSCS card and a broad range of skills that the industry requires, such as plastering, bricklaying and joinery etc.

University of Manchester House Services Academy

The House Services Academy is provided for both domestic and building attendant roles, within the University of Manchester. The academy will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of the role, as well as all the relevant training and qualifications you will need, to include Health & Safety, COSHH, manual handling and University specific training and guidelines.

The Introduction to Employment in the Hospitality Industry has been developed to provide an insight into working in the sector and is suitable for anyone considering working within the hospitality industry.  The hospitality academy offers two qualifications, and a period of work experience, working in a live, busy, catering environment with The University of Manchester, which happens to be the 2nd biggest catering provider in GM.

English and Maths Life Skills

Do you need help with English and Maths? If so, The Works runs adult education courses in Level 1 & 2 City & Guilds. This is offered in an informal, fun and relaxed learning environment, with 1-2-1 support and tuition.

“IT Made Easy”

If you would like to improve your basic knowledge around internet, emails and looking for work online, or even just helping the kids do their homework, then this is the course for you. Provided by our partner Manchester Adult Education Services, this course is designed to walk you through all of the things you need to know, from how to write an email, surf the web, or write a document. Another relaxed and informal environment, which will allow you to learn at your own pace.
